Gerry Cassioppi has announced that he will be running for a position on the DuPage County Board, representing the 5th District.
"Foremost, I consider it an honor and privilege to serve this community. I have truly appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity to work with many individuals and organizations throughout this area.
People like Gerry are why this community is such a great place. He has a track record of taking on difficult assignments – school board and transportation advisory board, among others – that are important to our residents. Gerry understands the importance of being sensitive to taxpayers' pocketbooks, while providing quality government services. At a time when the county is facing budget issues, he will prove to be a great asset on the county board.

Cassioppi has long been active and a leader in Naperville government and civic activities. In addition to his elected position on the 203 School Board from 2003-2007, in 1999 he was appointed by Mayor Pradel and the City Council to serve on Naperville's Transportation Advisory Board and previously served as President of Community First, the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation and the High Oaks Homeowners Association. Cassioppi is actively involved in many other volunteer and community efforts, including the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Covenant Church.
Cassioppi is presently an attorney and partner in the law firm of Nyberg & Cassioppi, LLC in Naperville and is a Certified Public Accountant. He was previously employed as Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary by United Asset Coverage, Inc. at its Naperville corporate headquarters. Prior to joining UAC in 2000, Cassioppi was Counsel of The Quaker Oats Company, where he was employed from 1987 to 2000 at its international headquarters in Chicago.
During his professional career, Cassioppi has managed a variety of corporate business, financial and legal matters - major commercial and real estate transactions, executive employment, compensation agreements, employee benefits, collective bargaining, securities, taxation and corporate governance.
Upon graduation from the University of Illinois, College of Law in 1982, Cassioppi joined the national law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery at its Chicago headquarters. He also earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois.
Cassioppi has resided in Naperville with his wife Stephanie for over eighteen years and they have two sons, Andrew and Peter.
